Is The 'Xbox Scorpio' VR And 4K Display Worth The Wait?

There are a lot of reasons why you should get excited about the gaming industry in the next couple of months. Microsoft and Sony are on the verge of to rocking the gamers' minds through their upcoming consoles, the Xbox Scorpio and the PS4 Pro. These brand new consoles are on the horizon, and they are specially-designed products that would totally add depth and emphasis to an ever evolving gaming world.

Microsoft vs. Sony

Two of the world's best rival tech companies across the globe are going at each other to upstage each other and gain dominance at the top spot. Although we have not yet determined what the full specs of their upcoming consoles are, we know for sure that the Xbox Scorpio and the PS4 Pro is going to be designed to support 4K and VR gaming features.

The Scorpio is ahead of the competition

Among the two, Xbox Scorpio is off to a great start as it is already offering dual functionality. Compared to the HDR-supported video and games offered by the PS4 Pro, Microsoft's upcoming console features separating approaches: It offers both 4K for videos and HDR for gaming.

It looks like Scorpio is the better console

Even though both the Scorpio and the Pro have similar 8-core processors, it seems like the extended launching period will be in favor for Microsoft since they have the capacity to adjust to a more powerful chip. In terms of showcasing an almost perfect imagery, Microsoft has the edge with its featured 6 TFLOPs over Sony's technical manageability to cast a suitable 4K content.

PS4 Pro's 4k feature isn't that necessary

The downside for Sony is that the PS4 introduces a complex style of translating a 2x2 pixel into four times its equivalent. That means the original 1080p is converted to 2160p. Though the adjustments may be to go in line with 4K manipulation, the result is hardly even noticeable, which means in the long run, Sony's 4k features aren't really that necessary.

Xbox is looking great

On the other side of the spectrum, Xbox planning-in-charge Albert Penello explains that the Scorpio's 4K performance is about absolute 4K gaming presentation. This means that what you get is what you get. Developers are capitalizing on using the extra power to produce effects on resolution or frame rate. So with all things said, our wait for the Xbox Scorpio would truly be worth it.
