If there's one thing that most Mortal Kombat X fans have been hoping for, it's no other than the Kombat Pack 3 DLC. Unfortunately, there are reports suggesting that the content is unlikely to be released anytime soon. That, in one way or another, it's being pushed back. Although NetherRealm Studios hasn't given out any official word, rumor has it that it's due to the development of Injustice 2.
According to Movie News Guide, sources pointed out that the studio is set to delay any developments towards the aforementioned Mortal Kombat X DLC. This is primarily because the developers have decided to put all resources and focus on an upcoming title -- Injustice 2, that is. The latter is said to be unleashed come next year, with no specific date as of yet.
In fact, there are talks about Mortal Kombat X getting the content a quarter of a year after another franchise is released. Obviously, this could refer to the aforesaid title as the new franchise. So, there's that possibility of Kombat Pack 3 getting released late next year or by 2018. Either way, this is really a bummer for the fans of the series.
It's worth noting that the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat X DLC has since been in the rumor mill for a while. Ed Boon himself -- the director of the game -- has teased and hinted about its existence. Unfortunately, fast forward to today, the pack is still nonexistent. This drew fans to wonder if the studio even plans to do it. Or perhaps, the developers were just trying to build a hype with no intention of doing so.
The new Mortal Kombat X DLC is deemed to be a good offer to have. From the inclusion of new characters (Rain, Fujin and Baraka, among others) to additional updates, it's really an interesting thing to have, as reported by The Bitbag. Heck, there were even those who speculated that the video game company will unveil it at EVO last October. Alas, it didn't happen - not a shadow of it was even there.
