Eddie Redmayne's acting in "Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them" were praised not just by critics but fans from all over the world. The movie made it possible for Harry Potter fans to remember the magic and excitement a J.K. Rowling story gives despite being in a completely different world. Now "Fantastic Beasts" is scheduled to have more sequels and fans couldn't be happier.
However, it looks like Redmayne is also eyeing to play another popular British role, "Doctor Who". He says his character has a big resemblance with Doctor Who including the scarf, coat, and even the bow tie. Plus if people just look very closely, even the briefcase does have a TARDIS feel in it. ". So yeah. Oh my god, would I do it? Yeah! It's a great show," he said.
Fans can't help but agree as well. Newt Scamander from "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them" does have a distinct doctor vibe in him, including the suit, jacket and his movement, most of all. So now, if Peter Capaldi is thinking of retiring early from his role, it looks like Redmayne could be stepping in. It can be remembered that Redmayne has announced he will be guesting in one of the coming episodes of "Doctor Who" so fans will have a taste of how he will fit in Doctor Who's world.
Not many may know but Newt Scamander and Doctor Who appeared in BBC Children needing of charity sketch. And in that scenario, Scamander needed assistance in tracking all of his creatures so Doctor Who came to the rescue. Moreover, it can be remembered that Peter Capaldi also played a smaller role in the previous season of "Doctor Who" but later on accepted the role of the leading character. The same thing can happen to Redmayne but given his busy schedule with "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them", it probably won't happen anytime soon.
