Probably one of the best first-person shooter games of recent memory is no other than Overwatch. It quickly became a fan-favorite soon after its initial release. Well, it only goes to show just how good Blizzard is at developing hit titles. Now, the latest update from the studio is the arrival of a brand new map called Oasis. And overall, it's has been nothing but awesomeness. Here's why this new map is simply a beast!
Oasis is the kind of Overwatch map that you would want to memorize every corner just yet. Instead, you'd want to explore every bit of it. Because seriously, it's a beauty. The designs down to the way the structures are built are simply an overwhelming experience to have. Not to mention that it has a couple of tricks and whatnots to offer.
In its most organic form, the new Overwatch map is a control map. This means that players in each team have to battle it all out. Their main goal is control as many points as they can across the three different areas. It's no stranger to the likes of Lijian Tower, which also asks players of the best of thee control contest.
What I like the most about the aforementioned Overwatch map is how unique and different each zone is. For instance, there's a control point wherein it kind of looks like a big, wide area. Not to mention that it has a good number of ledges, perfect for those who want to take down enemies from above. And oh, for those who main Lucio and Genji, among others, you have high walls to take on the party.
Another area in Oasis in Overwatch is somewhat a closed-structured place. The interesting part here, though, is that it offers various entrances. And remember: all of these can be accessed or seen from either above or below. As a result, a more intense, close combat scenario can be expected.
It's no secret that Blizzard built this brand new Overwatch map with the likeness of Arabia. Well, the sand and palm trees are living proof to that. There are even domed structures or buildings, all of which are beautifully wrapped in vines. In a sense, it's a futuristic Dubai. The cars speak of such anyway.
Now, Oasis isn't all about designs or aesthetics in Overwatch. It's actually more than that. The gameplay the studio did is somewhat commendable. First off, cars, if you get hit, will kill you. Second, there's that thing which allows you to jump high. All of these, when added to your gameplay, can bring great differences. In short, it significantly changes the meta of the game. And when that happens, it's all but perfect.
Overall, Oasis is a great addition to Overwatch. For me personally, I think it's the best map compared to its predecessors. Well, probably because I love control maps. Either that, I'm glad Blizzard thought of adding such unique map to the game. Because seriously, I've grown tired of defending Temple of Anubis or climbing the walls of Volskaya Industries (when I'm genji. LOL).
