AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Faces Wi-Fi Tethering Issues, Samsung 'Looking Into It'

Samsung recently launched the much-awaited Galaxy S4, and it has started arriving in the hands of millions of customers. But it seems that the handset hasn't made as smooth an entry as the company had hoped. Now the AT&T version of the handset is reportedly facing Wi-Fi tethering issues.

"While some third-party services still work to allow tethering and wi-fi hotspot, AT&T's direct menu support is not appearing working on some (if not all) units at the moment. SlashGear has reported this issue to Samsung and they are currently looking into it," reports Slash Gear.

The Wi-Fi tethering problem is said to be affecting only users trying to take advantage of AT&T's direct menu support, but third-party services offering tethering still work on the device.

The Wi-Fi tethering issue is not the only problem customers are facing, as many users have also reported battery drainage and overheating issues with the handset, although not on a specific carrier.

"I've just now received my Galaxy S4 with Exynos-Octa processor, and from the first minute I noticed overheating, specially in the ear area and it's annoying, is anyone faced the same problem?" complains a user on the XDA-Developers forum.

"I'm having the same heating issue, but I've noticed that I have the famous 'mediaserver battery drain' issue too. Check under 'Settings -> More -> Battery' and see if 'Mediaserver' is at the top of the list, and if so, what percentage? Mine is sitting at 55%. I'm down to 31% battery life after 2hrs 43mins of use. I suspect the overheating is a sympton of this misbehaving mediaserver, but I could be wrong," complains another user on the XDA-Developers forum.

The Galaxy S4 has a powerful 2600 mAh battery and users hope that it fuels the handset for a long time. We hope that Samsung addresses the issues swiftly and releases a software update to fix the issues as soon as possible.

If you have bought the Samsung Galaxy S4, are you facing any issues?
