After "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 heavily troubled Annalise Keating for a false accusation of Wes' murder, season 4 will shift the focus to the Castillos with Prof. Keating getting a reduced role. The installment will continue to dig deeper into Wes' death and will try to solve the mystery about Laurel's corrupt father. With this said, creator Pete Nowalk teased how complicated season 4 will be.
"How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 has ended with jaw-dropping revelations starting with Wes' murderer. It has been clearly verified that Wes was killed before he was toasted in Annalise Keating's burning house, and his killer happened to be Dominic who was revealed to be an assassin hired by Laurel's father. Pete Nowalk said in his interview after the season 3 finale that the revelation was in perfect time to open the door that will transition the show to a bigger mystery.
Solid followers of the crime drama know very well that the first three seasons mainly focused on Annalise Keating's problems. With her students getting involved, they were all trapped in crimes that they agreed to keep hidden. With the death of Wes though, and the revelation about his murderer left fans wondering if Laurel's father has an idea about their crimes.
"Laurel's dad was always an option," Nowalk explained. "That's why I really wanted to introduce him this season...since the beginning of the show we've been talking so much about Laurel's father and we've always dropped hints that he was a big and powerful man," he continued. However, Nowalk did not tease the true motif of laurel's father in killing Wes.
The creator then said that he waited for the moment to rest Annalise's issues although the crimes that involved her still remain unsolved. He also explained how Viola Davis' Oscar victory gives her a reduced role in "How to get Away with Murder" season 4, and that it is logical how her character can now take a little rest from heavy exposure as she is not that involved in the world of the Castillos.
This then gives fans another clue about what to expect from "How to Get Away with Murder" season 4. The connection of Laurel's family to the Mahoneys, the real involvement of D.A. Denver in the murder of Wes, who will hunt the Keating team, and more crimes are what the fans expect to see next season. "How to Get Away with Murder" season 4 is expected to premiere sometime in September.
