ABC's TGIT dramas will never be complete again as rumors claim that Shonda Rhimes already made the call to end "Scandal" after the upcoming Season 7. Like ABC and Rhimes, lead-star Kerry Washington also refuses to give a comment about the talks. She has however teased the shocker that is coming to Season 6 and shared her plans should "Scandal" go off air next year.
Shonda Rhimes and ABC are not giving any comments about the hyped rumor on "Scandal" coming to an end. However, supposed sources have reportedly confirmed the longstanding news about the drama's finale. Fans are then said to hear an official announcement next week during ABC's upfront presentation of its 2017-2018 shows in New York.
"Scandal" Season 6 suffered from slumping demo ratings and hit a series low, going down by 20 and 30 percent from its fourth installment. Despite the drop, the series was still renewed by the network. Although the values are taken as a primary reason for canceling the show, several reports recalled that the ABC series has already been hinted to come to an end since 2014. It follows Rhimes' previous statement that she already foresees how she will finish Olivia Pope's story.
Furthermore, ABC Entertainment Chief, Channing Dungey, addressed the talks last January saying he is already aware of Shonda Rhimes' ideas about Season 7's plotline. He also then teased that they have no exact plans yet after the new installment, but the network is willing to keep the show as long as Rhimes want to do "Scandal."
In some reports though, Shonda Rhimes reportedly said that there is only a finite story to be told about "Scandal." She also reportedly said that she already sees the end point of the story and that her decision is already locked and will not change her idea. She, however, promises a good finale as she says she feels good about what she is picturing about the series' ending.
Meanwhile, Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope was also recently asked about "Scandal" ending with Season 7. She only said that Rhimes is the best person to give confirmations and has not given further comments about the rumors. She has however teased a big shocker coming in "Scandal" Season 6 finale, saying she, herself, could not believe what happens to her character.
Kerry Washington worked for "Scandal" for the past five years where her career skyrocketed. The show's impending finale does not worry her though as she reportedly plans to go back to doing movies once "Scandal" finishes. She also shared that she has a production company working on several shows and has been doing it for a while now with some T.V. projects.
