Samsung Galaxy S6 teaser from T-Mobile hints at full-metal design, edge display

A new teaser image for the Samsung Galaxy S6 again tips the design of the smartphone, and it looks like it will have a metal back.

For years, Samsung has been criticized for its love of plastic even in the design of its highest-end flagships. Adding a faux-leather look did improve the overall aspect a bit, as did the subsequent addition of a metal frame for some of its latest devices. Nevertheless, Samsung fans expect an even more premium flagship with a full-metal design this year.

Samsung already paved the way for this by launching its Galaxy A series of smartphones with full-metal bodies, and the next-generation Galaxy S6 is expected to rock an all-metal body as well.

While some previous rumors left it unclear whether the Galaxy S6 would have a full-metal body or just a metal frame, the latest teaser for the smartphone now tips a metal back.

The teaser image above comes from T-Mobile, who launched a pre-registration page for the Samsung Galaxy S6 ahead of the big unveiling on March 1, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015. This image gives precious hints regarding the design of the Galaxy S6, suggesting that the next-generation flagship will no longer have that plastic body many dreaded on other Galaxy devices.

Rumors so far have also hinted at a curved-display powerhouse, and T-Mobile's new teaser seems to support such claims. The image clearly shows a curved display edge similar to the one found on the Galaxy Note Edge, but it remains unclear for now whether all models of the Galaxy S6 will have curved display edges or whether Samsung will launch two versions and only one of them will have a curved display.

With the latest Galaxy Note phablet, for instance, Samsung launched a Galaxy Note 4 flagship, as well as the Galaxy Note Edge variant with a curved display. The company may opt for a similar strategy this year and launch a standard Galaxy S6 alongside a curved-display Galaxy S6 Edge, or it may release a single version of the Galaxy S6 rocking a display curved on the edges.

Either way, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is one of the most hotly-anticipated devices of this year and is expected to boast top-notch specs and features all around. It will all become official in less than a week, and we'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
