It seems eager consumers in India who have been waiting for the HTC One will have to wait a little longer before the smartphone hits the shelves. Per reports, the HTC One's release has been delayed in the country.
The HTC One was slated to hit the Indian shelves by April end (April 22) and the smartphone was priced at a hefty Rs. 42,900 (approximately $789). Now, according to an AndroidOS.in report, the HTC One's release has been postponed.
"Waiting for HTC One in India, well we are too, but it is still some time away. HTC had earlier announced that HTC One will become available in the country before the end of April and the month is almost over with no HTC One in sight," reports AndroidOS.in. "New information regarding HTC One availability suggests that India release of the phone has been delayed."
Judging by the smartphone's listing on the retailer Saholic, the HTC One will become available May 15. However, the retailer had previously listed the availability as May 7, which did not happen.
If reports from brick and mortar retailers are any indication, then the HTC One will become available around May 20. What's more, an AndroidOS.in reader who had signed up for HTC's "Keep me Informed" newsletter received an email that said the handset would be available in stores only by the end of May.
HTC had initially planned to launch close to the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch, and while the latter released as planned (and at a comparatively cheaper price), the HTC One is still languishing on the sidelines, likely owing to supply shortages.
The HTC One sports a 4.7-inch Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The device is fueled by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and touts a 2-UltraPixel primary camera (4 megapixels) with LED flash, BSI Sensor and Optical Image Stabilization. The HTC One also has a 2.1-megapixel HD front-facing camera, 2GB of Ram, 32/64GB of on-board memory, and a 2300mAh battery.
Hopefully, consumers in India will not have to wait much longer and will be able to lay their hands on the HTC One before the end of May.
