The much-rumored Sony Xperia C4 is now official, making its debut alongside a dual-SIM version called the Xperia C4 Dual.
Rumors of an Xperia C3 successor with the codename "Cosmos" have been making rounds for quite some time now, and a few images and specs that leaked over the past couple of months have tried to paint a picture of what to expect.
Sony has now officially taken the wraps off its new Xperia C4 and Xperia C4 Dual, and it turns out that previous rumors and leaks were pretty accurate.
Considering that the Xperia C3 was a selfie smartphone itself, it was expected that the Xperia C4 will carry on with the trend and aim to provide high-quality selfies as well. Both the Xperia C4 and the Xperia C4 Dual share the same hardware specifications and are expected to hit commercial availability next month, launching in various regions.
Hardware specs include a 5.5-inch IPS display with a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MTK6572 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, a Mali 760 graphics processing unit (GPU), and 2GB of RAM.
The smartphones further come with 16GB of internal storage capacity expandable via microSD, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter with a 25-mm wide-angle lens, and a 2,600 mAh battery to keep things up and running. Sony has equipped both the front and the rear shooter with an LED flash. On the software side, the LTE-enabled Xperia C4 and Xperia C4 Dual come with Android 5.0 Lollipop on board out of the box.
"Following the success of Xperia C3, we are proud to introduce Sony's evolved PROselfie smartphone," Tony McNulty, Vice-President, Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile Communications, touted in a new press release on Wednesday, May 6. "Xperia C4 caters to consumers that want a smartphone that not only takes great photos, but also packs a punch. Benefiting from Sony's camera expertise, the 5MP front-facing camera with wide-angle lens lets you capture perfect selfies, while its quality display and performance features provide an all-round advanced smartphone experience."
In terms of color options, the Xperia C4 will come in black, white, and green. Sony has yet to offer specific launch and pricing details for the new Xperia C4 and Xperia C4 Dual, but is expected to provide more information shortly.
