Samsung Galaxy S4: 5 Reasons Not To Buy The Smartphone

Samsung's Galaxy S4 was recently launched in 60 countries and the smartphone has hit the shelves in most major markets around the world.

However, before you rush off to your nearest retailer to purchase the smartphone, think again. Here we present five reasons why you should not buy the Galaxy S4:

1. Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini release

Samsung is prepping to launch the smaller sibling of the Galaxy S4, dubbed Galaxy S4 Mini. The Galaxy S4 Mini is a follow-up to the Korean company's Galaxy S3 Mini which launched at the end of 2012.

Per reports, the 4.3-inch Galaxy S4 Mini will make its debut in early May and hit the shelves by the end of May or early June. With the smaller sibling launching soon, Samsung fans can pick up the smaller smartphone, which is cheaper than the Galaxy S4.

2. Waterproof and dustproof version in the works

Rumors are rife that Samsung could release a waterproof and dustproof variant of the Galaxy S4 before the end of 2013. The current version of the Galaxy S4 has an IR blaster, which is why it is not water-resistant. With murmurs of a waterproof and dust resistant version of the Galaxy S4 making the rounds, it seems Samsung is looking to take on competitors like Sony Xperia Z, which offers the same features.

3. Samsung Galaxy S3 still going strong

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is still a popular smartphone and worth the price. With the launch of the successor Galaxy S4, consumers who intend to purchase the Galaxy S3 will have plenty of discounts and deals on the smartphone to pick from.

4. Price and availability

Currently, the top-end Galaxy S4's off-contract pricing is pretty steep for many consumers. Moreover, the Galaxy S4 is still not available in some countries and in many regions the smartphone is suffering from a stock shortage. On the other hand, competing Android smartphones like the Sony Xperia Z, Nexus 4 and HTC One are easily available.

5. Impending launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Samsung is also slated to release the Galaxy Note 3 in the second half of 2013. Given the success of the previous two versions of the phablet (Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2), the Galaxy Note 3 will likely follow in its predecessors' footsteps and give stiff competition to other smartphones, including the Galaxy S4.
