Halo Wars 2 To Release Firefight Expansion Soon; New Halo Game Coming?

Dan Ayoub, the former head of Halo Studio, revealed recently that there will be a DLC expansion coming soon in Halo Wars 2. Unfortunately, he didn't mention any release date and he did not provide any details as well. At least fans of the game can expect some game improvements. But what are they?

The Flood Will Haunt Gamers Again

Ayoub revealed that the Halo Wars 2 update is called Firefight Expansion. It appears that this update pack will add a version of the wave-based mode that was first seen by gamers in the RTS sequel called Halo 3: ODST. There are no other details mentioned, but there's an image of the update's intro menu that must have come from Ayoub which reveals some juicy details.

The intro menu of the Firefight Expansion of Halo Wars 2 says "New HW2 Expansion - Firefight!" Some of the text from the image also reveals that the development team has been working hard to bring this update to gamers. And then it added: "and bring you back The Flood."

But What Is The Flood?

Based on this reading, it is possible that Halo Wars 2 Firefight Expansion will bring back The Flood, one of the most hated enemies in the game. For the uninitiated, The Flood is the parasite or the dead reincarnated. In other words, they are like Zombies who grow and reproduce by eating sentient life.

There Is A New Halo Game Coming

In a related development, it appears that 343 Industries is developing a new Halo Wars video game. The founder and top honcho of the company, Bonnie Ross, recently announced on his social media account that the development team is putting their heads together on the next big Halo. He even mentioned that the game is looking good.

However, his comments seem to indicate that game development of the next Halo Wars game has not yet come to the point where they can announce it. Ross also mentioned that fans who are aching for more updates about this project should watch out for the news on the latest Xbox One Daily Show presumably at the E3 2017.
