Samsung Galaxy S4 Sells 10M In 30 Days, Coming Soon In Four New Hues

Samsung's Galaxy S4 seems to be on track to set new records. The smartphone has now crossed the 10 million units sold milestone in less than 30 days of its commercial debut.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 hit the shelves on Apr. 27 and the 10 million sales milestone (and counting) makes it the fastest-selling and most popular Galaxy smartphone to date. The Galaxy S4 is so popular that estimations suggest that it is selling at a rate of four units per second!

Despite being plagued by several issues, the Galaxy S4 is in high demand and sales of 10 million in such a short span is quite impressive for the fastest-selling Android smartphone of all time.

The Galaxy S4 also holds the distinction of selling faster than any of its predecessors. The Galaxy S3, by comparison, hit the 10-million milestone 50 days after its commercial debut. The Galaxy S2 and the original Galaxy S, on the other hand, took much longer to reach the 10 million landmark - in five and seven months, respectively.

"On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung GALAXY S4," said JK Shin, CEO and President of the IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. "At Samsung we'll continue to pursue innovation inspired by and for people."

The Galaxy S4 comes with plenty of firsts and several nifty features, including Smart Pause and Smart scroll, which allows for pausing and scrolling based on a user's eye movement. The smartphone also has built-in temperature and humidity sensors, Air View and Air Gesture, and the new dual camera mode.

Samsung also announced that it intends on offering the Galaxy S4 in more color options. Currently, the smartphone is available in White Frost and Black Mist options and will soon don new avatars: Blue Arctic (already launched in Japan) and Red Aurora, followed by Purple Mirage and the recently leaked Brown Autumn.
